Family Law Representation Guided By Principles And Values
Biography
Meet the Founder of Mosaic Family Law & Mediation
Michelle opened Mosaic Family Law & Mediation in 2023 to serve clients going through family conflict, such as divorce or custody battles. After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Michelle pursued her law degree at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She began her career as a business litigator at a firm in downtown Minneapolis, but soon discovered her passion for the people she served and found her niche in family law. Several years into practice, she opened her first family law boutique firm, Kniess Law, LLC, serving Woodbury, the East Metro and Wisconsin. After nearly nine years, she joined her firm with an established Edina law firm in 2021 and soon thereafter, began pursuing her Masters Degree in Theological Studies. She graduated in 2025.
Michelle grew up in southern Minnesota, where she helped on her grandparents’ farm and learned to appreciate small town life. She knew that she would establish Mosaic Family Law & Mediation in her transplant hometown of Inver Grove Heights, MN, a community of genuine, good people who look out for one another. She is active in her local community and in the busy lives of her two teenagers. As a divorced single mother, she appreciates the joys and challenges that come with parenting, running a household, and operating a business. She enjoys being outdoors, walking her black lab, biking, or enjoying a patio with friends or family. A former music major, Michelle still pulls out her violin on occasion or sits down at her piano. Occasionally, you will find her singing at her local church on Sundays.
Michelle knows that divorce touches every aspect of a person’s life and she efforts to understand her clients, and advocate for what matters to them. While she firmly believes that problem-solving and peaceful solutions make for the best outcomes in family law conflicts, she does not shy away from courtroom advocacy when necessary. Now with over 20 years of experience, she has litigated numerous cases in Minnesota and Wisconsin, not as a mere matter of course, but in the pursuit of what is right and just.
